On Sunday, after worship, we road the Bemus Point Stow Ferry on Chautauqua Lake.  It is cable guided and paddle wheels power the boat.  It always goes forward and never backward. This ferry is one of less than 2 dozen in the US.  Funded by donations, it was built in 1811. The oldest ferry service was started in 1655 in Connecticut. There were only 3 vehicles on this ride today and all three were from Virginia.. Funny.  We try to ride it every year just to remember our childhood a little bit more.  We also drove past our old house.. what a shame they don't cut the grass..
