Friday 8/23/24
Today we got into Arches about 6:15am. We drove to the end, had a little breakfast and coffee, and then went for a little hike. It was cloudy so we didn't see much for the sun but it was cool and comfortable.. The wind picked up on our way back to the truck. Then the rain came. Once it stopped, we stopped at a few more overlooks. We met a man from PA that was taking 3 young amish men out west. They were having a ball. By 11 or so, we were ready for lunch. We went to one last viewpoint for delicate arch. Got all set up with our lunch and then the rain came again. We finished our lunch in the truck and decided we would go on over to Dead Horse State Park and finish Arches tomorrow.
Dead Horse is beautiful as well. It's not far from Arches. We were able to see most all of it before the rain came again!! The pamphlet says they get about 10" of precipitation a year. Hah!! I bet we got half that today.

Now it's 6:15pm and we just finished supper and here is the wind and rain AGAIN!! PLUS HAIL!!
It's not very comforting to say the least. At 8:20 pm it seems to have settled down.. thank the Lord!!
